Trinity Lutheran Church offers an “English as a Second Language” conversation group. Every year students, researchers, and visiting professors from all over the world (and their families) come to Norman and to the OU community. On Saturday mornings, volunteers from Trinity present talks on topics of interest from Oklahoma and American culture, followed by English language practice in small groups. A Bible study is also offered, and there are wonderful opportunities to make friendships along the way. Join us for one Saturday or for more – no obligation. You’ll be glad you did!

OCTOBER NEWS
We had a very successful “Ice Cream and Cookies in the Park” event of September 5, with 15 international students (plus 4 kids), 3 of our Lutheran Sooners college students, and 10 ESL volunteers! Thank you to all who helped with cookies, ice cream, attending, and prayers!
We are off to a good start this semester with several group meetings and another event under our belt. We had a presentation on “Things to Do in the Norman Area” on September 12 and a group cooking and food sharing day here at Trinity on September 19. We enjoyed American food like chili, hotdogs, and potato salad as well as Nepalese Momos and Chinese Mochis.
This month we will have group meetings with presentations on “US Electoral Politics”, “Native Americans and the Trail of Tears” and – of course – “Halloween”. We also are planning a field trip to the Chickasaw Cultural Center and a Pumkin Carving event. We have a lot to look forward to!
Prayer Needs:
- For the people of Nepal where the disastrous glacier collapse and flood have been a human, economic, and geographic catastrophe. One of our Nepalese students lost 9 friends in the flood.
- For a positive response as we offer a time for Bible study before the group time on Saturdays
- For several volunteers who can drive the van to events occasionally (no special driver’s license needed).
As always, we invite anyone to come and join the group, learn with us, converse with us, and have a great time. Snacks are always provided.
And you are welcome to come to John or Vickie Zubialde with any questions you may have.
